Colin Farrell (born Colin James Farrell on May 31, 1976 in Baldoyle, Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish actor. He made his acting debut on the BBC’s Ballykissangel in 1998, and then scored his first feature film role in The War Zone one year later. Colin starred in his first American film, Tigerland, in 2000, but had his big breakthrough as an international success in films like Phone Book and S.W.A.T. He also starred alongside big-name stars in film like Minority Report and Ocean’s Eleven in the early 2000s. After years of successful jobs, Colin gave one of his biggest performances in 2008’s In Bruges, for which he received his first Golden Globe Award in 2009. From then until 2014, he continued his career as a film actor, but made a big move to television to star in Season 2 of True Detective in 2015. Colin has struggled with drugs in the past, and checked into rehab in December 2005 for an addiction to painkillers.

In 2003, he and model Kim Bordenave welcomed their son, James, who Colin later reveled had a rare genetic disorder called Angelman syndrome. From 2007-2008, he was in a relationship with Muirann McDonnell, and he fathered his second child, Henry, in October 2009 with Alicja Bachleda-Curus, but they split in 2010.
